Historically Black Colleges and Universities have long been incubators of athletic excellence, producing generations of remarkable competitors whose stories deserve more than a footnote. Under Armour's Black History Month campaign, developed in collaboration with Morgan State University, was designed to honor that legacy with the depth and intention it deserves.
The collection's creative foundation draws from the tradition of African American quilting, a practice historically used to preserve stories of community, perseverance, and cultural identity. That visual language informed the collection's graphic patterns and vibrant colorways, giving each piece a sense of meaning that extended well beyond product design.
The identity was built to travel. Across retail environments, environmental graphics, email marketing, and social media, the campaign maintained a coherent and culturally grounded presence, treating every touchpoint as an opportunity to reinforce the same story rather than dilute it.
The campaign received two Telly Awards Silver wins in 2022, recognized for Branded Content in both Social Impact and Diversity and Inclusion.
